Create Lasting Memories with Celbridge Bobcats Baseball

In the movie Field of Dreams, Shoeless Joe Jackson (played by Ray Liota) says to Ray Kinsella (played by Kevin Costner), “Man, I did love this game. I’d have played for food money. It was the game… The sounds, the smells. Did you ever hold a ball or glove to your face?”

The senses, they are powerful indeed. In a split second, with just one smell or sound, we can essentially be transported back to when we were a kid, even if only for a few seconds.

For me, almost nothing brings me back faster than the smell of freshly cut grass. One whiff, and memories of pre-season youth baseball practice pop into my head, of sunny but cold April sessions and the sting of the bat when you connect with the ball on a cold Spring day.

Flash forward to present day. We are dedicated to helping building those kinds of memories with the Celbridge Bobcats – to create that Field of Dreams in your child’s head.

As of April 2025, the Celbridge Bobcats are preparing to enter Season 2 of officially playing in the Baseball Ireland youth league, with ages ranging from 6 to 8 for our Coach Pitch Tee-ball team and ages 9 to 12 for Little League.

It’s a perfect time to join for those new to the sport, with a mix of ages, skill levels, and experience, and the league season about to begin in early May.

The club has over 30 players and is in a growth phase and open to boys and girls aged 6 to 12, and will open up to ages 13 for 15 in 2026 to form a new Cadet team.

“Not another activity! We are maxed out….” you say.

This is understandable. For parents, it can seem like there just aren’t enough hours in the day, and many already have commitments that might make them feel like they are drowning a bit. For those already playing football, GAA, hurling, or some other sport or activity, baseball may sound like the straw that could break the camel’s proverbial back.

But what if your child was born to play baseball? It’s possible. You just never know until you try.

As we close out the month of April, the grass is fresh and green at our home grounds in Scoil na Mainistreach, ready to be cut and for memories to be made.

Don’t be afraid to go the distance and stop out to visit us soon.
